Our weekend away was filled with contradictions; big city vs. countryside, shopping in Topshop vs. hiking up a hill, playing boardgames in PJs vs. short skirts and a vat of gin….
Saturday morning, we decided to walk up Arthur’s Seat. It is a mighty lump situated in the middle of Edinburgh which has amazing views of the whole city. Armed with trainers (wearing them is still a novelty for me!), Charlotte’s mum’s anorak and my leather backpack, off we marched. Well, they marched. I stumbled along behind.
Small break before we attempted the summit!
A Scottish man… ruining my picture
WE MADE IT!
My parents brought me back my backpack from Tunisia so I can’t link you, but similar ones here and here.
Despite the Duke of Edinburgh Expedition flashbacks I had while walking up, it was 100% worth the slog! The views were sensational, you could see the whole of Edinburgh and beyond and the clean air made me wonder whether it was time to ditch the City lifestyle and become a nomad living in the Scottish highlands…
Grrrrrrr
So then, after all our good work walking, we accidentally fell into a massive plate of nachos…
