Brunch is the highlight of my weekend. Yes, I know it costs a lot of money, its unnecessary, decadent and I could easily have a bowl of cereal… but guess what? I don’t care.
Completely by mistake, we stumbled upon Tart in Clapham Old Town. A and I were looking for somewhere to grab a coffee (and a snack!) and thought ‘ahh this would do’.
We were greeted by a cosy kooky interior and a wonderfully smiley staff member. We grabbed the last free table there and quickly ordered drinks. Tea for A, a Latte for me.
‘Not a pie, not a quiche, just terribly tasty tarts’ is the proud matra scrawled across their website and the view behind the counter certainly re-enforces this! Trays and platters piled high of a mix of savoury and sweet delicious things.
Being that it was 11am (and it’s my favourite!), I opted for their take on Eggs Benedict.
Creamy hollandaise sauce, salty parma ham and perfectly poached eggs… it was absolutely delicious. Instead of the usual English Muffin, it was served with two pieces of flaky buttery pastry; a nice twist from the usual english muffin, which now seems stodgy in comparison.
A had a gluten free brownie the size of my hand (anyone that knows me, knows I have humongous hands) and declared it to be the best one she’s ever tasted.
My advice? Grab your brunch buddy and get down there sharpish! Make sure you save room for something sweet and walk it all off on the common after. Website here and a link to the menu here.
This weekend is meant to be beautiful so I hope you have your sunnies ready! I am rocking a new pair from Ray Ban (a little treat from me to me… ahem) which I would massively recommend. I hope you enjoy the sunshine!
